The Malaita Provincial Assembly Meeting continued yesterday and members debated on the detailed recurrent revenue estimates and budget expenditure.

Before the meeting, the Speaker of the Malaita Provincial Assembly briefed the house on the ordinances that were prepared for the day’s business.

The prepared ordinances included the Provincial 2026/2027 Appropriation Ordinance 2026, the Provincial Budget 2026/2027 Summary, the Deficit and Additional Expenditure Summary, the Summary of the 2026/2027 Original Estimate, the Summary of the Estimate of Deficit and Revenue Division, the Summary of Straight Recurrent Revenue, and the Summary of Recurrent Revenue Estimates by Division.

He said the chamber has focused their debate on the detailed recurrent revenue estimates first before debating the summaries.

“Before we proceed today, we will start off with the detailed recurrent revenue estimates, and later we will continue with our summaries,” he said.

The assembly meeting ran smoothly yesterday, with some questions and comments discussed and recorded by the administration for further consideration.

The majority of the members of the provincial assembly attended the meeting.

The assembly meeting will continue today, Thursday, the 19th of 2026, with the presentation of the Sine Die Motion by the Premier, confirmation and adoption of the Minutes and Transcripts of the 2025/2026 revised budget meeting, and consideration and adoption of resolutions and motions of adjournment.
