TEAM RANOSI has sent a strong warning to rivals ahead of the upcoming Western Cup, declaring that they are not travelling to Gizo merely to make up the numbers but to leave a lasting impression on the tournament.

The ambitious side is currently in camp, with players undergoing intensive training sessions at Buri and Koriovuku soccer fields as preparations enter their final stages.

Speaking to SunSport, team official Chris Podokolo revealed that a squad of 22 players has been selected and is working hard to ensure the team arrives in top shape for the province’s premier football competition.

“We are preparing seriously. Twenty-two players have been identified and they are now under intense training,” Podokolo said.

As part of their preparations, Team RANOSI is also seeking a valuable test match against Kolombangara Kings before the tournament kicks off.

“If it’s possible, we will have a friendly match against Kolombangara Kings before the tournament. The match is planned to take place at Kukundu Secondary School soccer field,” he said.

Podokolo acknowledged that many football followers may view RANOSI as underdogs, but he believes the tag will only motivate the team to perform above expectations.

“And yes, we are the underdogs, so RANOSI will be a team to watch,” he added confidently.

The team’s campaign has already received a boost through support from the Member of Parliament for Ranongga/Simbo, Wayne Osopo Ghemu.

Podokolo expressed gratitude for the assistance and appeals to Provincial Members representing Ranongga and Simbo to also come on board and support both the players and officials as they prepare for their journey to Gizo.

Team RANOSI is expected to arrive in Gizo next week, carrying the hopes of their supporters as they aim to emerge as one of the surprise packages of the Western Cup.

With determination high and preparations gathering momentum, football fans can expect Team RANOSI to bring passion, energy and plenty of excitement when the tournament gets underway.
