Kumar named Indian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands

THE Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday that Vijai Kumar, the current High Commissioner of India to Papua New Guinea, has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to the Solomon Islands.

Kumar will undertake the new assignment shortly, the MEA said in a statement.

“Vijai Kumar, presently High Commissioner of India to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to Solomon Islands, with residence in Port Moresby,” read the statement.

A career diplomat, Kumar has served in various positions in the Ministry of External Affairs in India and in Indian Missions abroad in the Middle East, Gulf, Europe and the Americas, including the Indian Mission to the United Nations in New York.
