21 nurses and two Doctors from the National Referral Hospital have refused vaccination for reasons of their own.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Pauline McNeil mentioned this before the Public Accounts Committee hearing on Wednesday this week.

“In terms of number, about 23 officers are not vaccinated, of the 23 officers two are doctors at the National Referral Hospital,” McNeil said.

She told the PAC that the ministry’s vaccination coverage reaches about 90 percent.

Ms Pauline said most health workers were affected during the peak of the outbreak but all of them have recovered because they are vaccinated.

“So, our success story is that most of our health workers are fully vaccinated,” she said.

National Director of Nursing Michael Larui said the Ministry of Health has a very high coverage of vaccination.

“Only one percent are unvaccinated and so the number is very small and according to our reports all our health workers are fully vaccinated,”Larui said.
