THE public has been eagerly waiting to see when police will arrest the 10 people under investigation by Police.

Police Commissioner Mathew Varley in his previous press conference revealed that there are 10 active cases of corruption currently under active investigation by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Corruption team.

In an interview with the Chairman of the Isabel Provincial Youth Forum IPYF Joe Faoso said though investigating corruption cases takes more time and resources, police investigations, generally should be concluded promptly.

He said put an end to matters that bother citizens.

Police said there are 75 cases currently in the hands of the corruption team but out of those 75 there are 10 active cases.

He said these cases are in various stages of progress and they are all being reviewed under the Police’s new triage system.

“They have been reviewed and categorized not only by the corruption team but also by Senior Management in the RSIPF”, Varley said.

He said they will do that in their own time and when the evidence is ready.

He also revealed that 15 officers are in the team that is investigating the corruption allegations.

Meanwhile the Police Media Unit yesterday said the investigations on the corruption cases are still progressing and ongoing.

At the same time, Island Sun understands that Police Commissioner Mathew Varley is currently attending the 87th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) which began in Dubai on Sunday.

INTERPOL is a network of police forces from more than 190 countries all over the world.

Solomon Islands became a member country of INTERPOL as of September last year (2017).
