Trial for former banker set for August

CASE of a man facing 19 counts of larceny by servant was set for trial in August and September this year.

The prosecution said that they are looking at two weeks of trial and suggested dates are August 27 to September 7.

Defence lawyer Ronald Dive made no objection on the proposed dates and the court set the trial from August 27 to September 7.

The case is then adjourned to May 10 for an interim mention.

This is the case against the former employee of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands Tommy Qazobatu.

Mr Qazobatu is facing 19 counts of larceny by servant in relation to incidents in 2013 while working with the Central Bank.

The allegations said that Qazobatu stole more than SBD$800,000 when he was an employee of the CBSI between the months of February and March of 2013.

Office of the Director Public Prosecution appears for the state.
