Prime minister Sogavare’s visit to the Central province has been described as ‘a father returning to his place of birth’.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister, Provincial Speaker Francis Moa said Tulagi is the birth place of governance in Solomon Islands.

“This is the land where first ever ruling government established its headquarter after declaring Solomon Islands as the British Protectorate, let alone the legacy of that colonial era which still remain visible in many areas around Tulagi remind us of our past history,

“Your arrival in Tulagi is like a father who has returned to his original place of birth hence thank you Hon PM for embracing us and at the same-time gracing our shores,” Moa said.

Meanwhile Minister of Provincial Government Rollen Seleso said Central Islands Province is unique – it was the host of the first capital of Solomon Islands during the colonial era.

Seleso said the PM’s visit to attend the CIP 40th second appointed day celebration is a clear manifestation of his commitment in demonstrating unity.

“It is no simple coincidence that our Prime Minister and my Ministry has desired, that all provincial premiers must attend occasions such as this, as it paves the way for greater unity, sharing and cooperation in both the national and provincial level,” Seleso added.
