KOOLINE futsal team has returned to the top of the 2018 Solomon Islands Port’s Authority (SIPA) national futsal league on Thursday.

The Coleman Makau-captained side defeated the Futsal Solympics 5-3 in a close and entertaining match at the Multipurpose Hall to see them return to the top of the competition table with 16 points.

Makau gave Kooline the lead in the first half and saw Philip Maeta doubling the lead 15 minutes into the period.

Raphael Lea’i pulled a goal back for the national U-17 squad just before the break to see them trailing 2-1 at half time.

Junior Mana levelled the scores for the Futsal Solympics but saw Makau regaining the lead for his side with his second goal of the day.

Lea’i pulled a goal back for the national U-17 but saw Maeta and Atana Fa’arodo clinching the winning goals in the final 10 minutes of the second half to hand the Stanley Puirana Futsal Solympic coached side their first loss in the competition.

Meanwhile, Mataks and Real Kakamora futsal team bagged their second win in the competition yesterday after defeating Indo-Solo and Vania respectively.

Mataks defeated Indo-Solo 6-3 to see them jump into seventh position with six points while Real Kakamora escaped with a 4-2 win over Vania FC.

Real Kakamora Head Coach Barnabas Loloito although was happy with the win, was disappointed with his players performance in the victory.

“Our win today was luck. Even though we won today the execution was not to the standard I wanted,” Coach Loloito told SunSPORTS yesterday

“Maybe my players underestimated them but I thought today’s game was an individual capacity game.

“Players did not play to the strategies we set. We really need more team work. But at least we got the win which is all that matters.

“If they continue to play this way for our coming game well be in trouble. But these are areas we’ll work on,” he adds.

The win also sees Real Kakamora with six points on the table after six matches played.
